A new festival will launch next month celebrating innovation and creativity in the Scottish digital sector.
techaus, which takes place on Friday 11 November at SWG3 in Finnieston, is a collaboration between ideas agency Equator and the Digital Meetups.
With the theme; Ideas for a connected world, the event will join local businesses with industry leaders and give digital agencies an exciting, creative space to share ideas. Equator will be showcasing its diverse range of expertise under this theme with speakers including Chief Creative Officer and co-founder, James Jefferson, and Innovation Director, Martin Jordan.
The event will feature workshops and inspirational talks from high profile companies including Spotify, Skyscanner and IBM, all themed around creativity, engagement, skills, disruption and vision.
In addition to the impressive list of speakers already signed up to the event, there will be a number of interactive elements including a video games studio, live music and street art.
Mark Muir, co-founder of Digital Media Meetups, is excited about the festival, which he hopes will eventually rival Tech Open Air in Berlin.
He said: “We’ve been running regular Digital Meetups over the last year, bringing together the digital community to learn and share ideas.
“This inspired us to create something on a bigger scale, getting industry leaders on board to help us engage better with young people and the wider digital community.
“Working with Equator, one of the country’s most innovative digital agencies, is a big step forward in helping us meet this objective and developing the festival into a showcase of the best digital innovation across Scotland and Europe.”
James Jefferson, Chief Creative Officer and co-founder of Equator, added: “Scotland has always had an enviable reputation for innovation and this has translated seamlessly into the digital space.
“The quality of digital talent is extremely high and it is about time that we had an exciting event to show that off, bringing together forward-thinking individuals and businesses in a dynamic setting.
“It’s also vital that we get more young people excited about developing a career in the digital and creative industries.
“techaus offers the perfect platform for the industry to connect with this talent, helping us to deliver the next generation of innovators that will shape the direction of the sector.”
