Daniel Barr is crowned Glasgow apprentice of the year

Young apprentices were celebrated at a special ceremony at Trades Hall in Glasgow.

Daniel Barr, 25, from Govan took centre stage at the Glasgow Modern Apprentice Awards 2017 winning first prize.

He is undertaking his apprenticeship at PBR Services and is about to start his final year at South Lanarkshire College.

Daniel was presented with an inscribed trophy that will remain on display in the Trades Hall. He also received a cheque for £1,000 and an inscribed Quaich.

Glasgow’s Lord Provost Eva Bolander and the Trades House Deacon Convener, Keith Brown attended.

Mr Brown said: “Young people are sometimes criticised for being work shy: the Glasgow Modern Apprentice Awards have shown the opposite to be true, with eight incredibly motivated and hardworking finalists exhibiting real dedication and skill in their specialist areas.”

The judges felt that Daniel showed enormous determination and self-progression, overcoming challenges.
