2024 project wrap-up
This week, we are reflecting on a couple of our key projects from this year – Work Aware and Construction Aware.
This year, Glasgow Chamber officially launched the Work Aware project, delivered in collaboration with DYW Glasgow, Glasgow City Council, FARE Scotland, and Inspiring Scotland. This is an experiential-based programme designed to allow pupils to participate in practical engagement with various employers across a range of workplaces and work with employability trainers to link meta-skills and subject choices to pathways from school and entry to the world of work. This September, Work Aware achieved a SCQF Level 3 credit rating awarded by the SQA – Scottish Qualifications Authority!
We also launched Construction Aware, supported by CITB, Landsec and Wheatley Foundation, a project that provides industry partners with the opportunity to inspire and inform young people around careers and pathways into the world of construction and allows employers to identify talent and address skills gaps.
Outcomes from 2024/25:
24 schools offered a Work Aware or Construction Aware programme
230 pupils provided with between 8 – 10 visits
2100 unique employer experiences
Thank you so much to our employer network for the immense support over the past year. Your generosity has allowed us to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people across Glasgow through interactive learning experiences and opportunities to gain qualifications. We are seeking support to deliver Work Aware and Construction Aware throughout 2025/26, please email us at dyw@glasgowchamberofcommerce.com
