School: Cleveden Secondary
Type of Activity: Work Inspiration
Name of Employer: All-Energy, Glasgow Science Centre and Scottish Event Campus
Case Study:
On May 15th 2025, a group of 20 S2 pupils from Cleveden Secondary School attended the All-Energy Event at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) in Glasgow, organised by DYW Glasgow and All-Energy. The event brought together a wide variety of employers and organisations focused on climate change, sustainability, and careers in the energy sector.
The aim was to engage young people in real-world discussions about how energy is created, measured, stored, and distributed – and to introduce them to the diverse careers that support Scotland’s transition to net zero.
The event space was packed with interactive employer stands, hands-on science demos, and themed challenges. Pupils had the chance to handle solar kits, view thermal imaging, test energy meters, and use digital simulations to explore energy efficiency. Companies from across the renewable spectrum were present, including representatives from wind, hydrogen, solar and smart grid technologies.
Pupils spoke to engineers, technicians, environmental scientists, and digital analysts – gaining valuable insights into what different roles involve and the paths that lead there. Several young people said they were now considering changing their future subject choices to include more science and technology options.
