Construction Aware

DYW Glasgow are currently looking for more employers to participate and develop the Construction Aware offer to our future workforce. We are delighted to launch this innovative construction and built environment-centred schools project following a successful pilot with support from some of the country’s industry leaders.

This initiative provides industry stakeholders with the opportunity to inspire and inform young people around careers and pathways into the world of construction and allows employers to identify talent and address skills gaps.

100% of participants on our pilot had an increased awareness of the scale, variety and operations of the sector by the end of the programme. They were able to identify a range of job roles, the volume of jobs as well as the relevant school subjects, skills required and pathways into the sector.

What you will be doing as part of the programme:

  • Hosting groups of ten pupils on an agreed number of occasions spread out throughout the academic year
  • Provide a mixture of practical and classroom-based activities relevant to your operations and sector and allowing the pupils to hear from staff across all levels
  • Liaise with other partners on the programme to add additional value where possible
  • The project runs from August 2024 until June 2025 (the sessions are allocated around each partners capacity and resource)

Quote from Lynn Stodart, HR Manager, CCG Group

“CCG is delighted to be a part of this programmefor the young people involved and its positive impact on our business. It’s exciting to see the project’s promotion of the construction industry’s varied career options.”
