UWS Scottish Apprenticeship Week Event

To celebrate Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2024, UWS is hosting an interactive event on 6 March in our Paisley campus from 10-11.30am to share some exciting updates.

UWS has an expanded GA portfolio of 6 programmes all with intakes this September. With flexible entry points for more experienced employees, including those who have completed MA/HNC/HND. The GA programmes are a great offering for recruiting new talent into the business and for upskilling existing talent.

The 2024 GA portfolio comprises:

  • BA (Hons) Business Management – designed in conjunction with student and employer feedback to ensure the programme meets both industry and student expectations with module content delivered online by academics and industry experts.
  • BA (Hons) Business and Project Management – brand new programme for September 2024, no exams and with flexible entry points at year 1 for career starters and year 3 for more experienced professionals.
  • BA Early Learning and Childcare – sector leading programme which achieved 100% overall student satisfaction in the National Student Survey 2023 and leads to registration as a Practitioner with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
  • BSc (Hons) IT: Software Development – UWS has reimagined our programme with a hybrid delivery model and offering a range of elective modules to choose from including cloud, data and DevOps.
  • BEng (Hons) Engineering, Design and Manufacture – UWS enhanced our framework to encompass skills needed in Industry 4.0, meta skills for T-shaped engineers and more.
  • BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering – “best in class” JBM accredited programme with 2 shortlisted finalists in the Scottish Apprenticeship Awards 2024

Complementing our Graduate Apprenticeship portfolio, we are taking Workplace Learning one step further and investing in the development of new Workplace Learning programmes in direct response to what industry is telling us:

  • BSc (Hons) Smart Cities and Town Planning – this new workplace learning programme will launch as a fast track for planners in September.
  • BA (Hons) Social Work – this highly flexible workplace learning programme, which is currently in development for launch in 2024/5 academic year, will provide an innovative solution to help tackle critical sector skill needs and meet SSSC accreditation.

Invited attendees will also hear from apprentices, alumni and their employers.
