Made in Glasgow is a cross-school competition held at Buchanan Galleries.

Local students from two schools went head-to-head in a ‘Dragons Den’ style pitch challenge to design a brand new, exciting community space for the people of Glasgow. It focuses on students ‘reimagining their local retail space’, which challenged students to develop and present their ideas and vision for retail in the future. The event was held in the management suites at the centre.

This enterprise programme contributes to the Scottish Government’s Career Information, Advice and Guidance Strategy. Students worked to a brief delivered on the day – The students were set a challenge of reimagining a vacant space to best serve their community in Glasgow. Attending workshops on creative placemaking, community and customer insights, and environmental sustainability hosted by professionals at Buchanan Galleries and Landsec.

The students learned all they need to know about taking an idea from its first draft to its design, pitch, and judging. The winning team received a trophy for their school.
