Case Study
Through a partnership with Scottish Friendly, a Bannerman High School pupil with a keen interest in finance was given a unique opportunity to spend a day at the Scottish Friendly offices. The pupil gained an in-depth understanding of the financial services industry by observing the operations of different departments and interacting directly with senior leaders, including the Accountant, Chief Executive, and Chief Actuary.

Objectives: Provide an overview of how a financial institution operates and offer insight into the various departments and career pathways within financial services.

Results/Outcomes: The student had the opportunity to spend the day with the heads of various finance departments, including the Accountant, Chief Executive, and Chief Actuary, to gain a comprehensive understanding of what a career in finance entails. The student was able to ask questions and receive valuable insights from experienced members of the Scottish Friendly team.

Benefits: The student was inspired by the range of career options available within the financial services industry. The experience enhanced the young person’s knowledge of finance and gave them practical insights into the sector. Scottish Friendly are currently looking at potential Graduate apprenticeship opportunities for this young person.
