DYW Glasgow’s Youth Ambassador Programme 2023/24
DYW Glasgow’s Youth Ambassador Programme 2023/24 kicked off on Tuesday 10th October with the first meeting taking place at the Mitchell Library. Ten new delegates arrived with coordinators and teachers, and everybody enjoyed finding out more about the programme, getting to know each other and participating in the activities with great gusto, even those that challenged their comfort zones, saying that the meeting was fun, informative and interesting.
The new Ambassadors have high hopes for their year ahead and were happy to voice their expectations for the programme, which included for example, developing new skills in public speaking; negotiating and collaborative working; learning how to develop and confidently present ideas geared towards making a difference and shaping DYW activities, plus making new friends and connecting to a wider community of like-minded people.
Young people taking part in this year’s Youth Ambassadors programme are from All Saints Secondary, Drumchapel High School, Glasgow Gaelic School, Notre Dame, St. Thomas Aquinas, and St. Rochs with their first task as Ambassadors being to conduct research within their school communities on current levels of knowledge of DYW Glasgow.
Please contact us if you have any young people who would be interested in becoming Youth Ambassadors. In particular, we would like to hear from boys, who are currently underrepresented in the group.
Thank you to all who attended and took part in the meeting, and we look forward to seeing you at the next one, which is scheduled for 23rd January 2024 – venue is yet to be arranged.
