Meet the Team – Rebecca Milne
Meet the Team – Rebecca Milne, Senior Project Coordinator
How long have you been with DYW Glasgow, and what are your highlights so far?
I have been with DYW Glasgow for the last three years. Some of my highlights include getting our Work Aware programme credit-rated. This was a completely new process for me, and it was really great to gain that experience. Other highlights include our COB Futures event at SWG3 this year. The outcomes and feedback from the young people were wonderful, and we’re now working on making it even bigger and better for next year.
What is the best part of your job?
What I enjoy most is the variety and the fact that there’s always room to develop your ideas. Within our teams, we are always encouraged to take our ideas and turn them into reality, which I absolutely love. I also value the impact we make every day —knowing that even if we inspire just one young person at an event we organise, it feels like a win to me!
Hobbies/Interesting Facts
I love to travel and have a long list of places I’d like to visit next. I also enjoy cooking and baking, and I’m currently trying to master the art of bread-making. Another passion of mine is arts and crafts—I’ve been slowly teaching myself to sew over the past couple of years. Right now, I’m in the exciting process of planning my wedding, and since we’re planning to create a lot of the décor ourselves, the next year will be full of crafting evenings!
Favourite Positive Affirmation
“I am in charge of how I feel and today I am choosing happiness.”
— Maya Angelou
15 Minutes of Fame
I was a waitress at the Trainspotting 2 After party – I had to circulate canapes in the VIP room, which meant I got to serve fancy finger food to Ewan Macgregor!!!!
What book or movie have you recently read/seen, and why would you recommend it?
I am currently reading Shantaram which is incredible, and I highly recommend it! It is a long, beautifully written book that makes me want to visit India.
