WORK AWARE
Introducing Glasgow Chamber of Commerce’s innovative employer-led ‘Work Aware’ initiative in partnership with DYW Glasgow, Glasgow City Council, FARE Scotland and Inspiring Scotland.
What is Work Aware?
The purpose of the Work Aware project is to provide young people with a series of employer visits over a 12 week period, utilising the concept of ‘Glasgow as a Classroom’. This initiative provides young people with the opportunity to visit different areas of the city and gain insight into different entry-level positions that may be available to them.
So far, this project has engaged 150 pupils at risk of disengagement from school. This programme has recently been awarded an SCQF level 3 credit rating by the SQA!
Participating employers represent a wide range of industries, including McDonald’s, CCG, Glasgow Airport, the King’s Theatre, and many others in between.
We're looking for industry partners and passionate individuals to help influence and inspire our young people on the career pathways to enter the new green economy. We would like to partner with people from a broad range of backgrounds to demonstrate to young people that all sectors of Scotland’s economy are needed to come together to support Scotland’s ambitious climate goals.
As an employer, you will be hosting insight sessions and workplace visits for our S4 pupils throughout the upcoming academic term. You will participate in a minimum of one and a maximum of three visits per cohort with two cohorts currently recruiting. Each visit will include 2 hours of employer activity and 2 hours of hosting the employability skills session supported by FARE Scotland.
I can’t believe I managed to do full days on Tuesdays. I am surprised I actually stuck at something and even learned new things. I am proud of myself.
Benefits of becoming a participating employer:

- Build your brand
- Talent spot for new employees
